A horse’s genetic makeup determines its colors and markings. Sorrel, Buckskin, Palomino, Brown, Bay, Dun, Chestnut, Black, Sooty, Silver or Brindle are typical colors. “Paint,” “Tobiano,” “Pinto,” or “Dapples” are markings. Registry classifications strictly regulate markings. Native American History is associated with horses having flashy color patterns; mainly the Spaniards introduced their raw stock of European crossbreeds to Americans. Early Middle Eastern Art suggests they've originated from Arabian horses while the Romans introduced them to Europe.
